General Conference
I work my hardest to make General Conference something that my children love and look forward to, and so far we have had great success! The kids anticipate Conference and love each session. The main materials I use are binders for the older kids, my “Conference Center board” for younger kids, and special Sunday treats for all. The posts below have details. I also try to make extra yummy food on those days and make the atmosphere positive and focused on General Conference.
I truly believe and have experienced that General Conference is something that young children can watch (all sessions), enjoy, and learn from. The effort is worth it!
I make binders for my younger children. The purpose is to lead children through Conference and help them pay attention to the speakers. My kids and I love them, and yes, I print one for myself! The ideal age is 5+, but I have used them with my kids starting at age 3. Their attention span isn’t as long, so include more coloring pages and fewer writing-intensive pages. As kids get older, I include fewer coloring pages and encourage more note-taking. Tie coloring is often the favorite of all ages.
