Sundays

We really want Sundays to be enjoyable at our house rather than a day full of “don’ts.” I have a few shelves of Sunday books and games for the kids. There are also a few folders of movies on our computer/TV the kids know they can watch on Sundays: Sunday movies, Family videos, and FHE videos (Family Home Evening DVDs my far-away mom made for the grandkids).

Jon and I believe that small children can learn to sit through sacrament meeting. We’ve put forth lots of energy and time in disciplining our kids while they are very young, and training them on how to be reverent and enjoy sacrament meeting. Our efforts have really paid off. Our two-year old is the only real “bogie.”  The other kids all know how to behave. If they forget, a quick “look” from mom or dad puts them back in their place.

I aim to only keep religious-themed items in my Sunday bag. Quiet books are one of my favorite tools for keeping young children quiet while still focusing them on religious things.
