Keeping things simple, I used half-size binders, printed pictures on photo paper and descriptions from the year on regular paper. I slid them into mini sheet protectors. These are easy to add to each year.

Some years I wrote more than others, but the kids don’t mind either way.

At the top of each page I typed the year and what/who they were.

After highlighting their individual pictures,...

I always include one of the whole family or all the kids. Some years Jon and I didn’t dress up, but I took a picture of all the kids together every year.

In my early years of having kids I didn’t know I’d want to do something like these books, and my photography/camera was not as good, but I am grateful that even though some of the pictures aren’t the greatest quality, they still capture the kids in costume from that year.

When it’s time for costume photos, the kids are motivated to cooperate because they want their book to look cool, ha ha!

I usually write what we did on Halloween and anything interesting about why they chose their costume. As years progressed, this included which kids went trick-or-treating with us, with friends, or at all. I also include what we did afterward and anything memorable. It’s fun to remember!

After Halloween I store these in my Halloween decorations bin. That way, they are super special when I pull them out again the following October.

The other favorite thing I do with Halloween pictures is print our group photo from every year on an 8.5 x 11 photo paper labeled with the year at the bottom. I laminate these and put them in order on the wall (oldest at the bottom left and most recent at the top). It is so fun to see our costumes together throughout the years! Our photos begin in 2001 - our first Halloween with kids, so we have to use two walls to display them. This is an all-time family favorite Halloween decoration!

I love the happy, cozy, creative and fun parts of Halloween!
