The Escape House
Jon just started a new business called The Escape House (1320 N State Street, Orem). It’s awesome! It’s a new, fun form of entertainment, bonding, team building, etc. It’s a mystery solving game where you get put in a room with your friends/family and have 60 minutes to escape, which requires clue finding, puzzle solving, code cracking, and innovative thinking (I got that description from the City of Orem Government page, ha ha!). They opened in the middle of February, and our family has done both of their rooms now. (There are 2 open, and 2 in the works.)
The kids did “The Studio” with my parents and Rosalie in the morning of 2/16. They escaped! I felt pretty challenged to get out when I went through with my primary presidency that night, but we failed! We were foiled by something toward the end. Ah! It was a great time anyway.
Studio C went through the room right before my group and broke the record with 11:23 left over. So cool.
I so want a t-shirt with their logo!
I needed redemption, so right after they opened a new room (The Office), I tried it with my friends Shawn & Liz Hill, and Sue Hafen. We won! We got out with 3 minutes plus remaining. Woohoo! These guys were so fun!
The office was much smaller than the studio. The studio takes 6-12 people at a time, and the office took about 4 people. This one required more teamwork... including being tied up together at the beginning! It had a lot of different elements, and was just as exciting! I’m so happy we got out! My kids want to do it now. I do think they’d need at least one adult, if not 2, so we’ll see.
How it began:
Jon went to CES (Consumer Electronics Show) in Las Vegas in January, and did an escape room there. He and his buddies could not stop talking about it! Instead of coming home with more technological ideas, they came back determined to open their own escape-place experience. I was amazed that they took a business from start to opening their doors in one month! And even more impressed with how awesome of an escape room they’ve created!
Shortly after they came back with this new business idea, Jon and I did an escape room together in Salt Lake with his family. It was fun, but not anything like what he had experienced in Vegas. So I was very interested to see what they created with their Escape House in Orem! I was wowed by all the awesome elements they created in this house! He told me that the things I was excited about in this house weren’t in any other escape room he has been to or heard of. So, goooooo Jon!
Come try it!
