Watch Out! The Costumes are Out!
Jon and I frantically put the finishing touches on the kids’ costumes before the ward Halloween party tonight. Andrew made the best little Iron Man you’ve ever seen! I covered up the firefighter emblem on his jammies, and sewed on pieces of gold-colored felt. I added glitter to the circles on his chest and hands. He was so excited when he saw his costume! When he saw the face paint in the mirror, he looked taken back... even stunned! He was darling!
Lastly... I’ve learned my lesson to take pictures of Halloween costumes before Halloween! Last year things were so hectic that it was dark before we were all in costume, so our pictures were lame. This year I made sure to take pictures the first time the kids wore their costumes and to use daylight. That way I not only have great light, but the costumes are intact and clean, and I’m not in a rush.
Thank you again, Jon, for taking the kids to all the booths while I chatted away. You’re the best!
Here he is about to take off.
He gets so into this Iron Man move of shooting out the power from his hands. Normally, he leans into it with one knee forward.
Adam wowed everyone by transforming into Bumblebee (over and over again). He then made sure to point out the Autobot emblem on his arm. This project was all Jon’s! I did come up with the harness for attaching the box, and I cut out the stencil for the Autobot face, but all the significant credit goes to Jon. Adam was so thrilled with his costume!
Last year the girls told me they wanted to be witches for Halloween next year. I didn’t take them seriously (thinking they’d want to be princesses like always), but they held true to their word.
Natalie does the best little witch scowl ever!
Amy has this sweet look to her - even dressed as a witch!
Here she is trying to look mean.
I finally lifted the ban on my sewing machine to make these dresses (I’ve avoided it for about 2 years now). I already had a usable pattern and couldn’t resist the dollar fabric at Walmart. Though I had some frustrations with sizes, I’m glad I pulled it off.
She has exclaimed, “I’m finally something scary!”
